"Meet Me At The Fountain"

This fountain in the Exhibition grounds is the traditional meeting place during the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) that takes place here from the middle of August until Labour Day every year. The fountain is called the Princess Margaret Fountain and the Princess attended the opening of the fountain in 1958 when it replaced the original one that had been there since 1911. That domed building behind it was built in 1907 as the Horticulture building but it now serves as a night club and event venue.

Three Sisters Mural

I showed you a mural a couple of weeks ago done by the Chilean artists Tikay & Aner and they also did this one at the same time just down the block on Dundas St W. It is titled Three Sisters which refers to the crops maize, climbing beans, and squash, a name given by various First Nations groups to these foods that were a major source of nutrition for them. In the mural you can see one of the three crops beside each of the three women.

Tranquility At Lake Ontario

This is an early Sunday morning pic of the lakeshore taken from the Exhibition grounds downtown. There was not a whiff of wind and even though it was only 10˚C it was beautiful down there. I'll have more pics from the grounds in the days to come.

Camouflaged

The Chipmunk and the female Cardinal really blend into their background of fallen seeds from the bird feeder above them. These two seemed to get along quite well and continued to eat side by side for quite awhile.

Infill In The Junction

This odd shaped building has been fairly recently constructed in the Junction neighbourhood on a triangle-shaped piece of property behind the stores on Dundas St. I rather like it. And the area is one of the more interesting ones in the city with lots of small independent shops, restaurants, and craft breweries.

Another Lawrence Park Porch

I seem to have developed a thing about gorgeous porches and couldn't resist this beauty found in the Lawrence Park neighbourhood. The house itself is beautiful and it is the porch that makes it special don't you think?

Royal Cinema Revisited

I first showed you the Royal Cinema in Little Italy back in 2011 (HERE) and was down on College St for a Sunday brunch recently and took another pic. There have been a few changes such as the marquee being redone but overall it still retains its 1939 Art Deco glory. And it is still functioning as a movie theatre!
